Easter Bunny Cake Instructions
To make this Easter bunny cake you can start by using your favorite boxed cake mix and frosting. You could use chocolate, yellow or any flavor cake mix you prefer. I used white cake mix and white frosting for this cake. But, even chocolate frosting would be cute for this Easter bunny cake! Make your cake in two 9-inch round pans and allow them to cool completely before moving on to the next step. One of the round cakes will be the bunny’s head and the other will be cut for the ears and bowtie. See diagram below for how to cut the cake.

Easter Bunny Cake
Ingredients
- 1 Boxed Cake Mix
- 2 Frosting Containers
- Red Food Coloring
- Shredded Coconut
- Candy Coated Chocolate Pieces
- Chocolate Covered Almonds
- Chocolate Mini Eggs
Instructions
- Make the cake mix as directed on the box. Pour the patter into two 9-inch round prepared cake pans. Bake as directed on the box.
- Remove the cakes from the pan and allow to cool completely on a wire rack. I usually leave my cakes to cool overnight.
- Use one of the round cakes as the head. Cut the other one like the diagram for the bowtie and ears.
- Get creative with the decorations! I used some red food color with the frosting to make the pink inside the ears. I also used shredded coconut for the hair of the bunny. For the eyes I used chocolate covered almonds and the nose is a pink chocolate mini egg. The bowtie is Easter candy coated chocolate pieces. You can use any candy or decorations you like for this cake. Have fun!
Decorating the Cake
Time to decorate your bunny cake! This is a fun activity to do with your kids, and don’t be afraid to get creative with decorating the cake. Like I mentioned above, I used white frosting and used almost two containers of the frosting. To give the bunny some texture I used shredded coconut to look like his “hair/fur”. This is totally optional as I know not everyone loves coconut.
For the ears of the bunny I used red food coloring with the white frosting to make pink frosting. An offset knife like this one works really well for these details.
To make the bunny’s face I used chocolate covered almonds for the eyes and a mini chocolate egg for the nose. You can also use licorice to make whiskers.
For the bowtie I bought Easter candy coated chocolate pieces. You could also use jelly beans or other types of Easter candy on this cake. The most important thing is to have fun!
