If you love a classic caesar salad you’re going to love this recipe. Grilling the romaine adds such a great depth of flavor, and it’s super easy. Cory and I enjoy making this grilled caesar salad for lunch or dinner during the summer months. This salad is easy to prepare and only takes around 3 minutes on the grill. If you’re entertaining or want to try a new recipe this grilled caesar salad is a winner.

Grilled Caesar Salad Recipe
One of my favorite staple grocery items are romaine hearts. I love that romaine hearts stays fresh longer than bagged lettuce and I can use whatever I need for a lunch or dinner salad. To make this recipe we use a single romaine heart cut in half (lengthwise), and place it on the grill for a few minutes. We typically don’t brush the lettuce with olive oil, but if you’re worried about the lettuce sticking to your grill you can add this easy step. Just don’t walk away from the grill, as this salad can go from slightly charred to burned within minutes.
Grilled Caesar Salad
Ingredients
- 1 Romaine Heart
- Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated
- Caesar Dressing
- Pepper
- Anchovies or Chicken Optional
- Croutons Optional
Instructions
- Cut the romaine heart in half lengthwise.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- When the grill is ready put the romaine on the grill cut-side down. Cook until you have some grill marks 2-3 minutes at the most.
- Top the grilled romaine with your favorite caesar dressing (we love the one from Newman's Own). Add the freshly grated parmesan cheese, pepper (to your liking), and anchovies or chicken or croutons if you prefer.
You could totally make your own caesar salad dressing for this salad or stick with a grocery store find. Cory and I love this dressing from Newman’s Own that’s more of a vinaigrette than a creamy caesar dressing. I also enjoy topping my salad with anchovies, but you could also do grilled chicken instead. I would also highly recommend freshly grated parmesan cheese for this salad. The flavor and texture is so good when you grate parmesan cheese yourself. Trust me.
