If you ask me what my favorite food is I’ll quickly respond guacamole and chips. I’m slightly obsessed with guacamole. Sometimes I buy guacamole at the grocery store, but if I’m being honest making it at home is 100% better. Plus, guacamole is really easy to make and you only need a few ingredients. Go-To Guacamole Recipe
The key to good guacamole is the perfectly ripe avocado. I like to buy my avocado pretty green and let them sit on my counter for 2-4 days. You also want to use fresh lime juice in this recipe. Don’t buy artificial lime juice because trust me it doesn’t taste the same. I love using this citrus press to juice my limes or lemons when I’m cooking.
Easy Guacamole Recipe
Ingredients
- 2-3 Avocados medium-large size
- 1 Lime juiced
- 1-2 tbsp Cilantro chopped
- 1 tbsp Green Salsa optional
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cut your avocados in half and remove the pit. Scoop out the avocado and place in a small/medium bowl. Mash the avocado with a fork until you have the consistency you like. I like to leave my guacamole a little chunky.
- Add the lime juice, cilantro, green salsa, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- With a spoon stir everything together and serve with your favorite tortilla chips.
A few things to note with the ingredients in my guacamole. Cilantro is a big hit or miss with my friends and family. If you’re not a fan of cilantro you can easily eliminate this ingredient in this recipe. I really love cilantro because I love the fresh element it brings to the guacamole. The green salsa might sounds kinda weird in this recipe but hear me out. Many recipes call for chopped jalapeño or green chilies and sometimes that flavor is a little too overpowering for me. So I like to add some green salsa to get some of the zip in my guacamole. Again you can definitely leave this ingredient out.
I also like to use garlic powder instead of fresh garlic or onion. I’m not a fan of scooping out my guacamole and crunching on a piece of garlic or onion. If you like this then you can totally use minced garlic or chopped onion in this recipe. I like the flavor of garlic and the garlic powder gives the guacamole just enough for me.
