Growing up in Michigan, I always enjoyed the fall season for Michigan Apples. It’s that time of year where apples are the star of the show here in Michigan. I have countless memories eating apple cider donuts by the big red apple at Robinette’s, and baking apple crisps with my mom using Michigan Apples. We’re so lucky to have fresh and locally grown apples right here in West Michigan that we can find at the farmers market or grocery store. To celebrate the start of the fall season, I set up a fall-inspired outdoor movie night for my family featuring snacks made from Michigan Apples.

Movie Night Featuring Michigan Apples

My nephews love coming to my house so they can enjoy an outdoor movie in the backyard. They picked a Halloween inspired movie to watch, and I was in charge of the snacks. Using Michigan Apples I came up with a some fun snacks that my whole family could enjoy together while watching a movie.

Using McIntosh, Gala and Honeycrisp Apples from Robinette’s I created quick and easy recipes you can re-create at home. These Michigan Apples are great for cooking, baking or snacking! Scroll down for the recipes I made for our fall outdoor movie night.

Why I Love Michigan Apples
Did you know there are 16 different types of commercially produced apples here in Michigan? My favorite Michigan Apple is Honeycrisp because I love the crisp, sweet flavor. What’s your favorite Michigan apple variety? Leave a comment below letting me know! Whether it’s for snacking, baking or cooking up a recipe this is the best time to enjoy Michigan Apples from the farmers market or your local store. I used McIntosh, Gala and Honeycrisp apples at my fall outdoor movie party. Here are a few things to know about these apples:
McIntosh – This bright red apples is great for baking or making applesauce and cider. It has a slightly tart flavor and the consistency is a little soft which makes it perfect for baking pies.
Gala – Did you know the Gala apple is the 3rd most popular apple in Michigan for eating or cooking? This apple has a yellow/orange/red appearance with a crisp consistency and mild sweetness.
Honeycrisp – The Honeycrisp apple is my favorite Michigan Apple. The appearance has a red and green skin with a great crunch and a sweet flavor. This apple is perfect for snacking!

Since October is officially Michigan Apple Month I hope you enjoy eating and trying new recipes with Michigan Apples. Here are some apple snacks and desserts I made for our fall inspired outdoor movie night.
